Photographers have always been fascinated by panoramic shots. The 1840's saw the
advent of the extremely wide angle optics and lenses which could be swiveled,
making panoramic photography possible. The most popular method is still panning
360 degrees on a tripod and putting the individual photos together to form a
panoramic picture. The painters who mastered the art of realistically representing
scenery in their panoramic pictures and cycloramas are often considered the
forerunners of modern photographers.
